Out with the Old in with the New

We finally did it. We gave in and purchased a new fridge. This is what our old fridge looks like. Not our actual fridge but really close. This is what our new fridge looks like. Much better. Our old fridge is an energy sucker. We decided to purchase a new fridge when we realized how much energy this old fridge was using. This is the fridge that I grew up with in Texas. I bet my dad it was about 15 years old but he thought it was a little newer than that. I won the bet. This fridge was installed in my house in texas 18 years ago in april. I know this because of the installation sticker on the back. Anyway, I decided to do some research and found out this bad boy uses 2480 KW a year. This really did not mean anything to me until I realized the new fridge we were about to purchase only uses 465 KW a year. I think that is so amazing how far we have come in 18 years, hahaha. The other reason we decided to purchase a new fridge was a conversation I overheard between Maggie and Dane. Our fridge came on and it sounds like as airplane is literally taking off in our home. I knew it was really loud but did not really pay that much attention. Maggie ran to the window screaming for joy "airplane, airplane". Dane said "Maggie it is only the fridge". I could not stop laughing and realized I need to look into getting a new fridge. So we did and it was delivered today. It's perdie and I am so excited to use less energy. I encourage all to save some energy. Our old washer and dryer is next, they better watch out. Jamie

I just realized Our old fridge cost us $21 a month to run and our new fridge cost $3.75 a month. I cannot believe we did not think of this sooner. That is one more date a month for me and chris. Nice.

I love the freezer on the bottom. If you think about it I don't think alot of people spend alot of time in the freezer. We do however spend alot of time looking in the fridge. Hey, are you really going to have a gilmore girl party?

This is a ge profile. We went to geappliances.com and found it. It was a great value compaired to other brands. I think you can order it online and I know almost every appliance store carries it. This is the Model #:PFS22SISSS
I love this fridge because it has an internal water dispenser. Instead of having it on the outside where my kids would always be playing with it. Happy hunting. I did not think a new fridge would really be that big of a deal, but it is. Chris and I only wish we would of pruchased one sooner.
