Wow. Can you believe it is Christmas time again? It is crazy how fast a year goes bye when you have 3 little kids to keep out of mischief at all times. We have truly been blessed to have had a wonderful year with each other. A couple family trips to Portland, Seattle, Ely and Phoenix, some great family activities and lots of fun pretty much sum up our year together. Chris’ year has been a year of travel. He is still working for Wencor here in Springville and has enjoyed a little travel time for work (New York, Phoenix, Atlanta, etc.), which he secretly loves. We are blessed that Chris enjoys his job, which we know is hard to come by these days. Chris is still serving as the 1st counselor in the Elders Quorum and enjoys his calling very much. A lot of golf, sporting events, hanging out with family and friends and again travel equals Chris having a great year. The funniest thing Chris asked this year was “I don’t see the point to wrist bands? It‘s not like guys sweat from their arms.” Then when I explained to him they’re for wiping sweat off of your forehead, his response totally caught me off guard, “that is the most genius invention ever, that’s awesome.” I have never laughed so hard in my life.
My year has been about discovering, again, how much I love to read, a little travel and some races and triathlons in between. My most challenging races were the ½ marathon and triathlon sprint I competed in this fall. They were so much fun and I can’t wait for next season. My favorite books include The Road-McCarthy, The Book Thief- Zusak, The Secret Life of Bees-Kidd, all of the Twilight Books-Meyers(of course) and all of the Shopaholic Books-Kinsella . I was released this year from serving in W’s and YW’s sports for the last 4 years and of all things called to head up the nursery for our ward. What was Heavenly Father thinking? After much struggle at first I have found I love my calling. The new program is Heaven sent and an absolute joy to share with the children.
Dane is 5 ½ and just started Kindergarten which he loves. He also gets to ride the bus to and from school, thanks to his Dad for talking me into it. Dane is still really into sports and loves golf, baseball, football and he just finished his first season of soccer where he averaged 4 goals a game. He is truly a sports freak. The funniest thing Dane has done this year was when he had just gotten to school, he decided he was going to check out the cafeteria before class. Dane came home all excited about the “free” breakfast he received and how he told the cafeteria lady, “he was hungry but had no money” and how she still let him eat and how she also gave him a cool stamp on his hand. Dane is one of a kind.
Maggie is almost 4 (Jan.) and has just started her 1st year of preschool. She is attending the same school Dane went to and loves her teachers. Maggie is also our little ballerina since March and looks forward to class every Thursday. Maggie very much loves all the girly stuff that I was never into as a kid such as dress up, Barbie’s, lip gloss and pink. It has been fun for me to experience the girly stuff with her. The highlight of Maggie’s year was a trip with Mom to Disney On Ice, Maggie was in Heaven and still has not stopped talking about it. The funniest thing about Maggie is her love for candy. Dad bought Maggie a king-sized bag of peanut M&M’s at a BYU basketball game he was planning to share with her. Dad ate a couple handfuls of Dane’s popcorn and was ready for some M&M’s but Maggie had already finished the entire bag. Her chocolate filled grin told the whole story.
Cooper is 2 ½ and is the sweetest little boy ever. We all just love him to death and love being around him. Cooper is so much fun. He loves his mommy time every Mon and Wed when Maggie has preschool; so does Mom. Cooper is my little errand and cleaning up the house buddy. Cooper is just so pleasant and such a joy and blessing to our family. The funniest thing Cooper has continued to do throughout the year is play dress up with Maggie. Cooper just loves her Tinkerbelle dress and can be caught wearing it at least once a week. What are we going to do?
I love writing a Christmas letter more for ourselves than for our friends and family. Chris and I laughed and laughed remembering all of the fun we have had this year. I think Christmas and the New Years is a great time to reminisce about the year and plan for the future. We hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year. With our 3 kids we are no doubt headed for some fun and adventures this next year. We Love You All. Chris, Jamie, Dane, Maggie and Cooper Jensen.
