I Ain't No Okie from Muskogee

We just returned from the longest road trip ever with 3 kids 4 and under, we do not recommend it . No really, it was fun and the kids did suprisingly well for the 2700miles we spent in the car last week. We stopped in Frisco, Colorado to help my parents load up the rest of there junk, as I like to call it, as they are moving to Oregon. We stayed and few nights with my sister, it is always good to see her and her 4 kids. Then we headed to Tulsa to hangout and visit with Chris' sister, her husband and their 5 boys, it was alot of fun. We also went to Tulsa for the PGA championship , of course. No pun intended. Here is a picture of Dane and Chris on wednesdays practice round. Dane was a little upset he did not get to see Tiger (Tiger Woods), we just had to explain to him this would not be his last chance because he is only 4. So after the reassurance talk he was alright with not seeing Tiger, but let us know he would be seeing him soon. If anyone followed the PGA Championship at all you would know this was the hottest major golf tournament ever. Let me tell you we thought we were going to die.

This is Vijay Singh, the number 3 best player in the world right now, check out the sweat on his back. This was taken at the practice round on wednesday. During the tournament thursday-sunday you are not allowed to take anything in, including cell phones. There was I guy about half way through on thursday that was asked on the course to surrender his phone or be escorted off of the course. Let me tell you they were not joking and were very strict on thursday when Chris and I went to the 1st round. We followed Tiger for about 6 or 7 holes and decided to catch up with some other players. You do not realize what the commentators mean when they talk about the pressure of playing with Tiger, unitl you realize about 60% of the gallery is following him around the course. I mean it is so loud and so many people watching you, it has nothing to do really with playing with Tiger it is totally the crowd that follows him. We got to see everyone it was a really awesome experience. Chris and I both agree that the players are smaller and look alot younger in person than on TV, however, Tiger looks exactly the same. After about 2pm we were dying of heat It was 102 on the course with a heat index of 115. Chris and I are both from Texas and this was the hottest either of us could remember ever being. We ended up anly staying till about 4pm. IT WAS SO HOT. Like I said though we got to see everyone and it really makes you appriciate watching it at home, on your couch, with the AC blasting and the fan on eating icecream. Just Joking.

Speaking of icecream if you know anything about Bluebell then you know it is the best icecream on the planet. So us thinking that we had to head to the Bluebell Icecream Factory in Tulsa. This factory opened in 1993. The original and biggest is in Brehnan, Texas, which is in between Houston and Austin. There is a 3rd factory in Alabama that has only been open for about 5 years. Y'all have to check Bluebell out if you already haven't. Bluebell is also celebrating their 100th anniversary this year and they have some really yummy anniversary flavors right now.
Here is Cooper after the plant tour about to eat his free scoupe of whatever flavor he wanted. Cooper asked for Banana Split a family favorite. Cooper is also sporting a bluebell hat and orange binki, cute.
And, of course, here is Dane and Maggie eating there rainbow sherbet and wearing their bluebell hats. Being a Bluebell fan myself, my favorite dessert is orange or rainbow sherbet with sliced, fresh strawberries piled on top. SO GOOD. We are not ashamend, but we did bring back in a cooler of dry ice 6 half gallons of bluebell icecream and 1 package of their famous popsicles with vanilla icecream in the middle. Chris has had 2 servings of bluebell a day since we have returned. If anyone is was a "small" sample of some Bluebell I think I can get Chris to share. So there was a little insight to our trip and this is how the kids were for most of the car ride back to utah.

It was great.

i've taken forever to comment on this, but i have to since half of it is about BLUEBELL and that's about the only thing about houston i heard about for the first year we were married...and chuy's...i would think it was just texan overhyped pride if i hadn't tasted it. it is amazing. i've only had cookie's and cream, though, because that's dave's favorite.

cool you got to see your rockus golf tournament, too.
